METHODISM.
THE SEPARATION OF NEW ZEALAND. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Adelaide, June 3. A meeting of lawyers wJio are lay representatives at the Methodist Conference considered the formalities necessary to s'ecure the separation of New Zealand from Australia. It will be necessary to pass a Separate Act of Parliament in each State of the Commonwealth, and there must be a separate endorsement of this Act in each annual State Conference. The process will be elaborate and costly, and take much time. UNION WITH ANGLICANS ' REPUGNANT. '•ROMANISTS ANtTrATIONALISTS." Received June 3, 10.30 p.m. Adelaide, Last Night. The Methodist Conference discussed the report of a committee appointed at last conference to deal with the question of the onion of the churches. It stated that delay had 'been caused through having to await answers to questions submitted to the Lambeth Conference, and recommended that conimfttees be re-appointed on lines similar to those of 1907, with a view of preparation for a more complete basis of union and to foster generally the spirit of unionism. The committee expressed gratification at the progress made towards securing an agreement, both as regards the doctrine and policy. In tha course of a general discussion the Rev. Mr. Beale (New South Wales) declared that a union to embrace the Anglican Church was not worth praying for, not worth seeking or having. "Let Anglicanism first unite itself and become evangelical." They could not think of union with a church including on the one hand a Romanistic section and on the other hand a rationalistic section. The committee's report was adopted.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. A conference of the Methodist Young Women's Bible Class Union decided to divide the Wellington district into two parts, Wanganui being made the headquarters' of the new centre.
