King George has been promoted t-> be an Admiral of the Fleet and a FieldMarshal of the British Army. He has also accepted the rank of Colonel-in-Chief in nine regiments of Guards. King George, in connection with his birthday, conferred the Order of the Garter upon Queen Mary and Privy Councillorships upon Prince Arthur of Connaught, Lord Knollys, Sir William Carington,'and Sir Arthur Bigge, and a Baronetcy on Major-General Sir Henry Ewart, who i 9 appointed as Prince Louis of Battenburg's personal naval aide. The Duke of Connaught, Prince Christian, and the Duke of Teck will be personal aides-de-camp, and the Maharaias of Gwalior, the Idar of Kuchbehar, and 6ir N. Bikanar honorary aides-de-camp to the King. Members of the Royal Household have received various promotions and appointment of the Victorian Order. The only birthday celebrations to-day were naval salutes and the firing of forty-one guns in .St. James' Park. The customary .birthday honors will be issued ©n 24th June.
