THE TERRITORIALS.
OPERATIONS AT STRATFORD. The 4th Wellington Battalion carried' out useful field work at Stratford on the King's Birthday. Operation orders have already 'been published. The muster did not reach expectations. Six companies were on parade. The field staff consisted of Lieut-Colonel Malone, commanding; acting -major, Captain Bellringer; actmg adjutant, Captain -Mills. On arrival at Stratford the parade was exercised in camp duties at Victoria Park, and then. took part in the operations, which consisted of a march towards Toko. The advance was ably opposed .by memoere of the Stratford Rifle Club, under their president. The club turned out in strong numlbcrs for the purpose, and did good service until overpowered by greater numbers. Taking the operations as a whole, satisfaction was expressed, and the arrangements made were voted excellent. The detail of duties and work performed proved to be of good practical instructional value to those who took part.
