STRATFORD DAY BY DAY.

(Prom Our Own Correspondent). Stratford, Last Xight. Mrs. A. -Ellieott, of Waimea, King Country ; is at present on a visit to her .parents, Mr. and Mrs. Colson. Mr. C. Colson, who has been seriously ill recently, is rapidly recovering, and intends, as soon as he can make the trip, to pay a lengthy visit to Hawke's Bay. Mr. W. Doughty, an old resident of Stratford, is at present confined to' his bed. He was attending to his business as usual on Monday, when he was suddenly taken ill. Dr. Carberv was called 111. and ordered Mr. Doughty to bed. The condition of the .patient is still enuring his friends some anxiety. The Hawera friends of Mrs. T. Coffey, who has been seriously ill at the Stratford Hospital, will be pleased to hear that there is a slight improvement in her condition. I regret to hear that Mrs. G. A. Marchant, wife of the chairman of the Stratford County Council, is not in the best of health, and is at present an inmate of a private .hospital in Stratford. It is reported that Mr. T. Colson has purchased ill - . \V. MeMuiness' property on the Pembroke road. The borough councillors paid a visit this afternoon to the head works of the water supply. The tender of Mr. X. J. King lias been accepted for repairing the buildings damaged in the recent lire. Influenza is prevalent at present in Stratford. The Cardiff and Xgaere factories will close down for the season at the end of this week. I regret to have to record the death of Mrs. Serjeant, wife of Mr. S. Serjeant, of Te Puke, Bay of Plenty. Mr. and Mrs. .Serjeant 'were up to six years ago residents of Mid-hirst, leaving this district on account of the health of the deceased lady. The deceased was paying a, visit to friends here when she became ill and passed away, Tiright's disease being the cause of death.
