SIGNS OF GREAT ACTIVITY. GOOD SCHEME FOR SELLING PRODUCE. By Telegraph —Press Association. Dunedin, Wednesday. The annual meeting of the South Island Dairy Association was held to-day, Mr. J. Hiirdiey (Timaru) .presiding. There was a large attendance of delegates. The report and balance-sheet were adopted aiul a lengthy discussion took place regarding the scheme for selling dairy produce through the Association as suggested by the secretary, amended ioy the committee and submitted. iby circular to all members for consideration. Eventually the following motion was carried:—"Your committee, after due ; consideration of this matter resolve upon a scheme for the disposal of dairy produce, and if sufficient signatures are received, it will be ;put into operation on or about October 20 of this year.' The following provisions were also made in the scheme: —Each factory shall have a right to fix its reserve .price up to one hour before the advertised time of the auction, or if for sale by private treaty or consignment the reserve may be fixed at any time prior to such sale. Commission is not to exceea 3 .per cent. Sales at first are to take place monthly in Dunedin or Invercargill. The committee 'and secretary shall advise factories as to the reasonable limit. The agents appointed in London will send cables from time to time to the Association as to .prices and prospects, and these will be repeated as confidential telegrams to factories whose subscriptions are paid. The scheme will be put into operation during the coming season.
