WANGAN UI CUSTOMS RETURNS. By Telegraph —Press Association. Wanganui, Lust Night. The Customs returns for May total £5511), an increase of nearly £BOO us compared with that for tije corresponding month of last. year. BIBLE IN SCHOOLS. Wellington, Last Night. The Masterton School Committee applied to the Wellington Education Board to-day for permission to introduce the Nelson system of religious education in the school. It was pointed out that a new committee had been elected practically on this question, as a large majority of the parents wished for the Nelson system. . The Board resolved to decline the application, as it had previously decided in the case of the Te Aro School. Tke chairman (Mr. Robert Lee) remarked .that the Board had taken up the position that it was administering a secular system. NATIONAL DAIRY ASSOCIATION. Wellington, Tuesday. The annual report of the National Dairy Association, circulated this afternoon, states that the past year was one of the most successful in the 'history of the association. DETECTION OF TUBERCULOSIS. Wellington, Tuesday. It is understood that the Health Department is considering the advisableof establishing special clinics at the hospitals in the four chief centres with a view to detecting tuberculosis in its early stages. Special attention is being given to the procedure necessary to arrest consumption in its early stages.
