OTAGO HARBOR BOARD
DEPUTATION TO MARINE MINISTER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin. Last Night. A deputation from the Otftgo Harbor Board waited on the Hon. ,T. A. Millar to-day, and asked that the foreshore of the harbor, from high to low water mark, be vested in it. hi replying, Mr. Millar repeated his opinion that uie port of Otago had been unfairly treated in the past, and ought to he dealt with in the same way as almost all other large ports 'had been treated. He would be pleased to take a draft of the Bill to: Jiis colleagues, and to recommend to them that the control of the foreshore be granted to the Harbor Board, sufiject to the Board taking ovei; -any responsibilities which the Crown might have in regard to any rights. f He was quite sure his colleagues would assist him in trying to get such a laudable project as a free port for Otago. It would go a long way to make up for the action of past Governments - in taking away lands) from the Harbor Board for railway pur-l poses without paying compensation for them at the time. I
