THE CHURCH AND SOCIALISM
THE CHURCH'S DUTY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, May 30. The Dean of Newcastle, in an address at the Cathedral on Socialism, declared that he was sorry to say the Church had not done her "duty to" the bodies as well as to the souls of those to whom she should minister. If the Church was going to stand on one side, wrapped in antique respectability, living in the past, forgetful of the present, and profoundly indifferent as to the future, without doubt she would cease to be a power, and in time would become non-existent.
