PEARCE-'IIAGNEY MATCH. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, May 28. There is great interest in the PeaTceHagney sculling race, 'which takes place to-day, DETAILS OF THE RACE. Received May 29, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, Sunday. The weather was fine, the water smooth, and the attendance large for the boat race. Hagney led for the first hundred yards, and for the • first halfmile kept Pearce moving. After that the champion was not troubled. He gradually forged ahead, and led ioy two lengths at the mile, and by six lengths at the two miles, finishing twenty lengths to the good. Bagney was tiring badly at the finish. The winner rowed grandly throughout. Time, 21min 22 1 /»sec.
