WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) At the monthly meeting of the above Board there were present: Messrs (i. Connett, T. French, H. Hall, R. Turnbull and P. Surrey. Mr. Connett was elected chairman for the ensuing year. Correspondence was read from Mr. R. Tate, stating that he would do the road orading if be had time; from Messrs Govettand Quilliam, stating that Mr. i<. Hoskin was willing to accept £2 2s tor damages caused by" trespass of the Board on his property; from Mr. 11. S. Hall, forwarding donations from settlers «u Richmond road towards grading same; and from Mrs. Barford, requesting that royalty be in future paid to Messrs Borthwick and Sons. The clerk was instructed to request Messrs Govett and Quilliam to forward particulars of the trespass complained of by Mr. Hoskin; also to ask Mr. G. Hall to report on repairs required to district bridges. Resolved, that the Board meet on the first Tuesday in every month. Lots were drawn as to the members who should retire at the end of the years. Messrs Hall and Surrey retire. The-clerk was instructed to sue for all outstanding rates. The poundkeeper, Mr. F. Merrm, requested that the pound be either metalled or filled in, and surfaceman Giddy was directed to fill it in with sand from Manutahi West road by the Waiongona bridge. Mr. J. Montefiore waited on tile Board re his repairs to Te Arei road damaged bv carting during his contract. Resolved That Mr. Montefiore be informed that the Board are pleased with the manner in which he has carried out his repairs to the said road. Surfaceman Giddy reported that 66yds of metal had been put on the Maboetahi road, and Te Arei road repaired. Surfaceman rainier reported that Haskell had completed his Tnte road contract, having delivered 80 yaro-s oi metal. Some earthwork, consisting of i"radin<r hills, bad been done on York road, Messrs Hoby, Andrews and Rennett assisting. Accounts amounting to £O2 were passed for payment and the Board rose.
