A Hindu demonstration in C 1 cutta in King Edward's memory concluded with the sumptuous feeding of twenty thousand poor, who were seated in two rows a mile long on either side of the streets, and a gift of a piece of cloth each. The Maharajah of Darbhanga was the president, and there were two thousand spectators, who included the Chief Justice and many prominent English residents.
The poor dispersed cheering "tne British raj."
