I PALMERSTON NORTH SESSIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmcrston North, Yesterday. William Worthington, convicted y«sterday of theft, was sentenced to ten days' imprisonment, and then removed to a sanatorium for treatment of consumption. AUCKLAND SESSIONS. Auckland, Yesterday. In the Supreme Court, Arnold 1 Hare, for demanding payment of money by threat*, was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment with hard labor. . WELLINGTON SESSIONS. Wellington, Last Night. Alice Mary Anstice. a young woman, was charged at the Supreme Court today, ibefore His Honor the Chief Justice, with having performed an illegal operation. Mr. N. H. D. Bell prosecuted on behalf of the Crown, prisoner being represented by Mr. T. M. Wilford. The ease was heard behind closed doors, and the publication of the evidence was forbidden :by His Honor. After a full fourhours' deliberation the jury failed to come to an agreement. A retrial will be taken on Wednesday next.
