POWELKA BEFORE THE SUPREME COURT. WHO FIRED THE FATAL SHOT? By Telegraph—Press Association. Palinerston N., Last Night At the Supreme Court to-day Powelka was charged with the murder of Sergeant Maguire. The evidence for ibe Crown was similar to that of the lower Court. Mr. Martin deposed that a blow trom a handcuff, such as Maguire stated he had struck his assailant, would leave a bruise for ten days. The case is expected to last several days), and meanwhile the jury is locked up.
