PICTURE THEFTS.
REPLACED BY CLEVER FORGERIES. By Ciible—Press Association—Copyright St. Petersburg, May 24. The authorities have discovered that two Rembrandts, a Murillo, and several other pictures in the Hermitage Gallery here, have been replaced by clever forgeries'. Great consternation has been caused, particularly as Lehmann, one of the directors of the gallery, has just been convicted of replacing Imperial jewels with imitations.
