FIRES.
HOUSE DESTROYED AT WAIROA. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wairoa, May 24. A five-roomed house at the heads owned by Philip S. Hill, was burned last evening. Nothing was saved. The owner went to lay poison in a hole for rats, and the room being dark he struck a match. It cauglit some loose scrim, and the place being old and dry it burned fiercely. The insurance is £l5O on the dwelling, and £SO o:i the furniture in the Victoria Office. If your property is not insured, call at or ring up the United Insurance Company, Ltd., Devon street.
