STARTLING EVENTS
During the last few months several startling events have taken place, details of which will go to make, up the history of our great Empire, and will be read with great interest 'by the boys and girls of the future. Aviation, with the numerous inventors) of airships and their bearing upon thefuture defence and protection of thfr Empire. The rejection of the Imperial Budget and the great political contest resulting therefrom. The unexpected death of his late Majesty Edward the Peacemaker, whom the world loved and mourn over. The proclamation of George V. as King, with the numerous expressions of loyalty from all parts of the Empire. The appearance' of the great Halley's" Comet, with its enormous flashlight, and all the mysteries of astronomical research connected with it. The farewell function to Lord Plunket on his regretted departure from fcheDominion. Tim extraordinary spectacle of tire moon's eclipse in the east, and the brilliant comet showing at the same time in the north, witnessed last night. These are passed and will become historv. An important event which will affect the ifuture of Taranaki is the Winter Show to be opened on June 8 and continuing for four days. Let everybody do their duty to Taranaki and that sbovr will prove on important factor in the advancement and progress of the district. Nearly all the space is booked'. Entries close on Saturday next.
