Count Jacques De Lesseps, grandson of the Suez Canal builder, on s» Bleriot monoplane, ascended at Calais to a height of 280 feet, circled about in order to feel his way, and then soared over a thick mist and steered by the sun. He skimmed down near Dover with perfect ease from over 1000 feet, and descended gracefully in Saint Margarets Bay. The journey occupied thirty minutes. The weather was hazy, and hj. only saw the coast on Hearing Deal. The French destroyer Eseopette following, only caught one glimpse of De Lesseps in crossing.
