LONDON MARKETS. By Cable—Press Association — Copyright London, May 16. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 4,335,000 quarters, and for tlie Continent 1,855,000 quarters. Atlantic shipments 368,000, Pacific 20,000. Total shipments to Europe this week 1,275,000 quarters, including 142,000 from the Argentine, 505,000 from Russia, 64,000 from India, and 40,000 from Australasia. DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs E. Griffiths and Co. have received the following market report from their London .principals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated Ist April, .1910: Weather The weather has continued fine and sunny, hut with very cold easterly wind's, which will have 'the effect of keeping back the home production. Danish: The quotation is unaltered, and- arrivals have .been well cleared. French: A reduction of 6d per dozen on fresi'h rolls, and 4s per cwt. on fresh and salt baskets was made yesterday, but the 'butter is still dear in comparison with other sorts. Australian: There is no mail steamer to hand this week and quite a number of the regular brands are therefore missed, and buyers have had to rely on the arrivals per.outside boats, of which we have had the Dorset, Perthshire, and Marathon, practically all discharging at the same time, hut this they are doing very slowly, and buyers are experiencing great difficulty in getting hold of the tatters. The quality of the Queensland and New South 'Wales butter that has arrived by these steamers is not up to the best standard, ,but fortunately there is an excellent demand and the market is quite firm, so that everything clears practically as fast as it lands. Prices for the time of year must be considered very satisfactory, and we are hoping that they will continue for another few weeks, but although they may recede somewhat a little later on,' there is every prospect of all shipments up to date meeting a good market. New Zealand: Great difficulty has .been experienced in getting delivery of 'butter ex sa Ruahine. Although "this steamer was in over a week ago, there is still quite a good quantity of butter yet to be discharged, and non-delivery to buyers is causing great annoyance. The quality of this shipment was very good, and practically everything was sold. Cheese.—'Canadian: Stocks are small, and the demand now is mostly running on New Zealand, but there are just a few buyers who still stick to Canadian and in these cases fairly good prices can be obtained. New Zealand: Trade continues good, and the cheese ex Ruahine has met an excellent demand. Some of tlhe Kaipara's cheese, which was shipped in the Ruahine, has now been landed, but is not yet on the market.
