DYING WORDS OF NOTED MEN.
The last words of the late King Edward are said to have "been, "I shall work 'to the end." We give below a mil compiled from biography and history of the dying words of other noted men: "It is well."—Washington. "I must sleep noiw."—Byron. "Then I am safe."- j Cromwell. "Let the light enter."—Goethe. "And is this death ?"—George IV. "Independence for ever.'' —Adams. "Lord, 'take my spirit."—Edward Vx. "Lord, receive my spirit."—Cranmer. "Don't give up the ship."—Lawrence. "It is the last of earth."—J. Q. Adams. "I shall be happy."—Archbishop Sharp: "I am about to die."—Samuel Johnston. "Don't let poor Nellie starve."— Charles 11. 'i thank God I have done my duty." —Nelson. "So much to do, so little done."—C. Rhodes. "It matters little how the head licth." —Raleigh. "A dying man fan do nothing easy."— Franklin. "I feel the daisies 'growing over me."— John Keats. "I feel as if I wwc myself again."— Walter Scott. "The best of all is, God is with us."— John Wesley. "Many things are becoming clearer to me."—Schiller. "Let me die to 'the sounds of delicious music."—Mirabeau. "Don't let that awkward squad fire over my grave." —Burns.
