PRIZES FOR OFFICIALS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Post and Telegraph Department has made a new departure in the direction of offering prizes from members of the staff. The first two gold medallists are announced. The Trustees of the Gray Memorial (to the memory of the late Mr. W. Gray, Secretary of Post (and Telegraphs) had a small sum in hand, which was supplemented by the Postmaster-General, in order to assisti the desires of the trustees to offer prizes for the best suggestions made in con- 1 nection with the Post and Telegraph ser-j vices by any 6fficer during the year. These have been received by the com-' mittee, who have awarded gold medals to two officers whose suggestions were considered of equal merit, namely, Mr. A. P. Dry den, Assistant Postmaster, | Auckland (suggestions regarding parcels! post procedure), Mr. C. F. Potter, Clerk of the Telegraph Office, Auckland (sug-, gestions in connection with the rear-! rangements of clerical work at chief telegraph offices). A very 'large number of Post and Telegraph officers competed p for the medals. The suggestions made are carefully noted by the head office, and! utilised Where ..practicable. *"
