Each plant is allotted twelve square feet of surface soil, therefore a wellplanted acre contains 3630 plants. They are placed so that each may obtain the fullest exposure to the sun, in order that when they reach maturity the plucking surface may be as great as .possible. The plants mature for plucking in the low country in two. years, and upon the higher land in four years. A year before the plant comes into bearing it is cut down to about nine inches from the ground. Two months before plucking begins it is again cut down two inches higher than the first cutting. The plant is now plucked regularly every ,eight or nine days for two years, when it is again cut down." Reason 2.—Tea planting requires expert knowledge, therefore the culture of Golden Gift Tea is only entrusted to experts wtho have <a perfect knowledge of the development of plant life. G.
