MR MASSEY'S SOCIAL
COURT PROCEEDINGS. THE SPEAKER, BARRISTERS, AND J.IVS CHARGED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Grey mouth, Last Xight. The sequel to ihe social welcome to Mr. W. F. Massey at Greymouth on 30tili April was heard to-dav in the Magistrate's Court, when the 'proprietor of the 'Post Ollice Hotel was charged with throe breaches of the Licensing Act, liMmelv, keeping a room open as a public resort, exposing liquor for sale, and allowing liquor to be consumed after licensing hours. Twenty-two nut of fifty present at the ''social," including three barristers, the Hon. Mr. (,'uinue»s (Speaker of fhe House of Representatives), eight Justices of the I'e.ice, and ten leading citizens, were also charged with being on licensed premises after hours. The first charge, in respect of an alleged "common resort," was dismissed on technical grounds. The other charges were adjourned until tihe afternoon.
