FIRES.
OUTBREAK IN INVERCARGILL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Inverairgill, .Saturday. A fire broke out at 1 o'clock this morning in a two-.3LOri'>d wooden building occupied by A. Phillips, photographer, .but was suppressed by the prompt action of the Fire Brigade. 'The damage to the building amounts to £IOO. The stock suffered seriously from smoke and water. The outbreak appears to have been caused by a gas jet left burning in a cupboard. The building \ms insured for £SOO iu the North British, and the stock for £SOO in fae Victoria.
