STAY OF PROCEEDINGS.
CLAIM .\S.AJXST A NEWSPAPER. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Saturday. The judgment of Mr. Justice Cooper in a chambers application for a stay of proceedings in the case of H. F. S. King v. the Dannevirke iPublishing Company came to hand from Ohristchui'ch yesterday. The plaintiii claims £2ooo* damages for alleged wrongful dismissal from his position as managing editor of the Danmevirke News. In his agreement with the defendants -there was a clause providing that all dispute* should be referred to arbitration. The defendants therefore applied for a stay of the Court proceedings, so that the case could <*o to 'arbitration. His Honor held that tne dispute was one which should go to arbitration, and granted the stay. He awarded £2 2s costs against the plaintiff. Mr. M. Myers made the application on .behalf of the defendants. Mr. D. M. Findlay representing the plaintiff.

King, who three 'weeks ago served a writ on the Dannevirke Publishing Company, Ltd., claiming £2OOO for alleged wrongful dismissal, has now filed an amended statement, in which the amount claimed has been reduced to £233 Gs «d.
