THE PARRAMATTA HUNDRED. F. MATTERSON WINS. ARNST HEAVILY HANDICAPPED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Received May 15, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, Last Night. As anticipated, the concessions Arnst had to make to his opponents in the Parramatta Hundred proved too great, the winner, F. Matterson, receiving Olsec, G. Matterson 36sec, and Towns GOsec. Perfect smoothness of water also militated -somewhat against the champion, but lie rowed a magnificent race, covering the mile in omin 55scc, two miles in 12min, and cue full course in 15min Msec.
The winner soon established a good lead, passing the mile three lengths ahead of Towns, with Arnst fast making up leeway. 'The champion shot past Fogwell at the gasworks, and before reaching the two miles overhauled Felton and Kemp. At Oaha.rita Matter-son led, Zeitch and Towns being four lengths behind, 'with G. Matterson handy and Arnst fifth. All spurted grandly at tile finish, Matterson getting home two lengths ahead of his brother, who finished on almost even terms with Towns.
Arnst, who was a length behind Towns, claimed a foul from Towns on the finishing-line. The foul was disallowed. The winner's time was 16m in 17sec.
The Scullers' Handicap went to G. Witdiard (75sec start), Simpson filling the second place, with Kemp, jun., third.
LADIES' DOUBLES. Received May 15, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, May 15. | The ladies' double sculling championship was won by Misses Pearce and Pickering.
