This 'was the threemasted barque Marjorie Craig, of 540 tons register, and she presented a pretty appearance as she came with sails set. She left Hobart about twenty-four days ago and arrived 'here at about 11.30 a.m. Later in the afternoon Captain Newton, pilot anu. 'harbormaster, went out to the vessel and brought her alongside the wharf at about 5 p.m. She is laden with Tasmanian hardwood for the New Plymouth Harbor Board. Captain Mclntyre is in command.

THE ROSAMOND. The Rosamond arrived from Onehunga on Saturday morning and left for Wei-1 lington after loading 2526 crates of cheese for the Athenic, 283 crates of cheese for the Fifeshire, and 16 tons of general cargo. ■ THE RIMU. The Rimu arrived here from Wanganui yesterday morning, being unable to work Opunake on her trip up owing to the heavy sea. Probably an effort will be made to work the port to-day should the weather moderate.

THE CORINNA. The Corinna arrived from southern ports on Saturday afternoon with 760 tons of cargo. She was to have left the same evening but was detained until last evening. This delay will somewhat affect her time-table running, being now two days behind time. She -will return here to-morrow morning.

TAINUI SHELTERING. The small Waitara-owued coastal steamer Tainui put into New Plymouth yesterday afternoon for shelter, the heavy sea running on the Waitara bar making entry into that port impossibl*. She will leave for Opunake at the first favorable opportunity.

Information of a private nature has been received 'by a well-known business man of this ci.ty (says the Wellington correspondent of the Auckland Star) •which points to another big shipping company extending its service to New Zealand in September next, and probably a month or so before that date. If the extension of the- service comes about, Wellington, it is said, is almost sure to ibe made the port of call of the company's steamers. A foreign company, whose vessels now trade to Australian waters, is also said to contemplate including !\ T ew Zealand in its itinerary.
