i I BY NEW ZEALAND ATHLETES, j HOEY AND DUNN TO ATTEMPT THE ENGLISH CHANNEL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. An aspirant for the honors ot the English Channel swim, in the person of H. Hoey, of Whangarei, will leave Auckland for Sydney, en route to England, by the steamer Wimmera on Monday. Tie has a fine record, having represented New Zealand in Australasian events. He is a man of fine physique, being (3ft 3in tall and about llist. in weight, and is an all-round athlete. He will place himself trader the direction of Burgess on arrival in England. I Another aspirant, has already left New Zealand i>i the person o? Wattie Dunn, a half-caste Maori. He was the sole survivor of the wreck of the schooner May off Tvaipara in 1902.
