WAREA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A couple of slight shocks of earthquake were felt here on Monday. The news of the death of King Ed- : ward VII. came as a surprise to most people here, it being so sudden. The Now Zealand Ensign was hoisted halfmast on the public hall,, and one farmer planted a willow tree on a hill close to the roadside in remembrance of the King's death. A cricket match was- played on tli" local ground on Saturday against Okato, our local cricketers having onlv six players. They were defeated by 05 runs to 19. An accident happened here on Sunday afternoon to Mr. William Harvey, of Pungarehu. His horse .started to kid; in going down a hill. AH the occupants of the trap (Mr. and Mrs. Harvey and daughter) were more or less injured. The ladies of the district authored at the local hall on Wednesday afternoon for the purpose of making arrangements to give a farewell social to Miss Marie Francis at an early date. The Church of England will hold their annual social on the 17th inst. A farewell social to -Miss Evans, who is leaving the district next month, will take place at the end of the month.
