WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY FOR NJ2W ZEALAND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Tenders are to he invited at once for the installation of a wireless telegraphy system in New Zealand on the lines indicated 'by the Prime Minister in ais Winton speech for the erection of two stations of high power, and three lowipower stations. The Prime Minister is of opinion that if suitable offers are obtained, the whole scheme ought to be working within twelve months. SCENERY PRESERVATION. ,

Wellington, Last Night. The destruction of bush on the banks of New Zealand's great scenic river, the Wanganui, is to receive special attention from the Hon. James Carroll, who will visit the locality with the Wanganui Citizens' Committee who voiced the .protests against what has been going on to the detriment of the beauty of the river banks. It has been urged that all tftie scenic areas should be preserved, but this would involve an enormous expenditure, too large to be considered by the Government. A substantial amount of jpreservation work is, (howeveT, contemplated.

REGRADING ON RAILWAYS. Wellington, Last Night. In continuation of its policy of regrading the New Zealand railways, thus greatly facilitating and cheapening the handling of traffic, the Government decided yesterday to expend £7500 upon the easing of a big grade on the Waikato railway, near Tuakau station. The railway workshops are running at hig;h pressure to meet the demand for additional rolling stock. It has, therefore, been decided to greatly enlarge the Petone sfiops by providing additional buildings and £12,000 for equipment.

THE MASSEY BANQUETTERS. Greymocttn, Last Night. The police have been busy during the last few days in serving summonses on those attending the banquet .to Mr. Maasey, and which was kept up till after 11 o'clock. The cases are set down for hearing on the 16th instant.
