A CHILD DROWNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Monday. A child two years of age, named Stephen Deckett, whose parents reside in Cornwall road. Mount Roskill, fell into a bath of boiling water and was so severely scalded that death took place after removal to the hospital. CHRISTCHURCH GUNNER HURT. Chriatchurch, Last Night. When the. guns were being taken to Hagley Park this morning for the purpose of firing a Royal salute, one of the gunners slipped and fell, and a 'wheel of one of the limbers passed over his right leg. The injuries, which were not serious, were attended to by members of tne ambulance brigade. HEART FAILURE. Christchurch, Last Night. At the inquest on John Joseph Daily, an old-age pensioner seventy-nine veara of age, who died suddenlv at midnight, a verdict of death from heart failure was returned.
