HOCKEY.
CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION. The following seven entries have been received for the Taranaki Hockey Association's championship competition for the ensuing season:—New Plymouth Club, one; Carrington Road, one; Inglewood, two; Stratford, one; £l- - one; Hawera, one. A meeting of the Taranaki Association executive is being convened • for Monday next, May 10. The order paper includes: Championship fixtures and consideration of the advisability of reverting to the one division competition for present season, appointment of referees, the formation pf a Taranaki Referees' Association, and general. At the New Plymouth Hockey Club meeting on Monday the following apr pointments were made:—Captain, J. £. Avery; vice-captain, W. H. Wood; selection committee, captain, vice-captain and W. P. Crawford; management committee, the officers and R. E. Maunder, F. Grange, W. P. Crawford, and H. L. Cutfield. Blue and white jerseys and white knickers were retained as club colours.
