Clieese.—Market quiet, tendency in favor of buyers; average prices, New, Zealand finest white 595, colored 58s. , Hemp.—(Market quiet, but rather] steadier; prices on spot, New Zealand good fair £25, fair £24; Manila fair current £25; forward shipment, good fair £24 10s, fair £23 10s, Manila £24. The week's onhput of Manila was 28,000 Kauri Gum. Market steady, and fair business doing; stock on hand 352 tons; current prices as follows: —Ordinary to fair three-quarter scraped £8 10s, fair half-scraped £5 2s Gd; brown, fair half to three-quarter scraped £4 10s; brown pickings, common to good, £2 ss; bush, fair to good, pale and amber scraped £S 10s. \v heat.—Market dull and unsettled. i Oats—Market slightly weaker, with I less demand. Beans.—Market steady, prices well I maintained, but buyers are cautious.
Cocksfoot Seed.—< Market very dull; scarcely and demand; New Zealand bright clean I7Jb. seed on spot averages 00s. Wool.—The market remains firm.
HIDE AND SKIN REPORT. Messrs Dalgetv and Co. report that thev held their usual fort ii<rlitly sale of wool, skins, hides and tallow on the (Ith inst., before the .usual ...attendance of buyers. Catalogues'showed smaller offerings than usu'-nl. but keen competition was the rule of the day, and all lots sold at full values. Wool—Prices were on a par with last rates. We quote: Half-bred 3 3 / ( d. crossbred OV 2 d to 8V 4 d, lambs' o*4*l to B%d. medium crutchings 3d to sd, pieces 3d to 3'/od. wished pieces s*4*l. locks and pieces 3%d. Ekins —Market firm, slHitlv in sellers' favor. We quote: Crossbred fi'/od to 7%d. lambs' fi'/.d to 7-y.rf. crossbred shorts 5%d to Gy 4 d. pelts 4%d to 5V„d, dead and broken 4%d to Od. crossbred damn 3s lid to 4s lOd each, lambs' damp Is JOd each. Hides—Market firm and advance on all well-conditioned cows, this quality
selling right up to price of ox hides. We quote: Ox heavy 6%d to 7%d, cow heavy 6%d to 7V B d,' light 6%d. Yearling B%d to 6%d, calf f)i/ 4 d to 9y 2 d, horse hides 7s 9d to 8s 6d each.
Tallow—Casks (in shipping order,) £2B 10s per ton; in tins, 23s to 23s 9d ner cwt.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have re-! ceived the following cablegrom from! their London house, under date 6th in-1 stant:—"Frozen [Meat.—The market for 1 mutton is weaker; lamb is slightly improved, and 'beef (sides) is steady." Mr. Newton King has received the following cable (from Sydney re hides: " Prices firm."
