NEW HOULDER LINERS:" Commenting on the decision of Messrs Houider Brothers and Company, Ltd., to build ten new steamers, a Sydney exchange remarks that Houlder Bros, and Co. have unbounded faith in the future of Australia, and, encouraged by the brilliant prospects of the coming years, have decided after consideration to enter largely into the trade. The fleet at present consists of ten steamers—Hornby Grange, Oswestry Grange, Urmsjon Grange, Drayton Grange, Elstree Grange, Ro.yson Grange, Beacon Grange, Rippington Grange, Thome Grange, and Everton Grange. The names for the new linershave not yet Ween selected, but in all probability the firm will adhere _to the system of choosing names the initial letters of which spell the name of the firm. It is also likely that "Grange" will be retained as the second name of each vessel. Two classes will ~e provided in the passenger vessels of the new fleet. The accommodation for saloon travellers will be limited, but provision is to be made for between 200 and 300 passengers in the third-class or steerage, and it is anticipated that the new vessels will bring to Australia a verv large number of immigrants.
