PREHISTORIC MAN
MR. WRAGGE'S DISCOVERIES. Mr. Clement Wragge, in a telegraphic message from Christchurch to a; northern paper, says:—"A further critical examination of'the Lemurion photograplis by the aid of a powerful lens, reveals most decidedly the marks of a chisel m triangular form. There (is almost another triangle about one foot from the first, with 'the apex inverted, clearly showing up. It is impossible for this to be the work of nature only. I am decidedly convinced that the marks were made'by prehistoric man, probably with a rude quartz chisel. "The huge discs and pillars at the other place on ithe coast, which face northward, are confirmatory of sun and phallic worship by a race having a physical structure much more powerful than the men of this day. Manipulation in prehistoric times is emphatically claimed. These last probably date back some 12.000 years, and their whole history is prolia.bly embraced by five hundred thousand rears."
