INGLEWOOD BOROUGH COUNCIL

MONTH I.Y MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the laglowood Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers last night. were present: The .Mayor (11. C. Curtis) and Crs. Fawcett, Surrey, Young, Tarplee. Bennett and Gihbs. COMMITTEES. Committees were appointed for the ensuing year as follows 1 : Work*. Sanitary and Waterworks Committee.—Crs. Young Surrey aifl Tarpiee. These were three separath committees last year, but as the Oooocil has combined the duties under om foreman, it was thought advisable to combine the committees, although 0716 member of the Council was afraid they would have too much to do. Finance and Reserves.—The Mayor, Crs. Bennett and Gibbs. Lighting—The Mayor, Crs. Fawcett and Gibbs. Baths,—The Mavor, Crs, Tarpiee and Gibbs. Representative 011 Library.—Cr. Gibbs. The Mayor and Cr. Bennett were appointed to sign cheques. WATERWORKS COMMITTEH. Ihe Waterworks Committee recommended that a concession be granted Mr. A. Leech as asked. In regard to extending the water supply along the Junction Road, t.hey estimated nothing could be done until a delinite guarantee of £ls per annum was forthcoming, and recommended that no action be taken at ■present.—The report was adopted. GENERAL. The meeting day was fixed for the first Monday in each month. Various letters in connection with the forthcoming visit of the Governor were handed over to the sub-committee to deal with. Mr. .Tas. Bennett was appointed dog tax collector. A. Taylor was granted renewal of his lease, suihject to revaluation, when the first- ]ense expired in 4'/, years' time. The Hospital and Charitable Aid Board wrote that the Council's contribution would be £44 18s 4d per annum. The clerk said this was ill 10s less than last year. Accounts amounting to £251 IDs fltt were nagged for payment, and the Council adjourned. The Mayor stated that he would be away during next week, and appointed Cr G. W. Bennett as deputy-Mayor.
