A man whose head was bound up as if he were woundeu entered a branch of the City Bank at Kurrikurri and placed a florin on the counter, stating that it whs .sent bv the matron oi the •hospital to ascertain if the coin was good. The manager was absent, and Quinlan, the cashier. tooic the coin, whereupon the .man dealt liini a couple of blows on the head with a heavy sapling, inflicting nasty wounds and partially stunning him. Quinlan, however; liadi presence of mind enougih ; to make a grab for his revolver. The intruder fled, Quinlan pursuing him down the street. The man ,escaped. Received May 4, 9.55 p.m. , Sydney, Last Night. After felling Quinlan the intruder ■jumped on the counter and reached towards a drawer where the money was kept. ' At the sight of the revolver he bolted without any booty.
