Hewitt Pictures to-night. Messrs. Bilker and Co. insert a replace advertisement dealing with 'winter curtains. These goods are just the thing to make the home comfortable during the cold wintry weather. Tenders are invited, to close on 7th May, for painting the Bell Block factory and cottage. The orchestrelle imported by the local branch of the British and Continental Piano Company will arrive on Friday next, and will be on exhibition at the firm's premises in Devon-street for one week.
Train arrangements for the Hawera races are advertised. Webster Bros, advertise a clearing sale of household furniture, etc., on behalf of Mr. G. Broadbent, Devon-street. The sale starts at 2.30 o'clock on Friday next. Residents in the St. Aubyn Town Board district possessing residential qualification and those who have become possessed of a ratepayer's qualification are specially invited to see that their names are on the district electors' list, or their claims to be placed on such list sent in. ■Over live hundred different articles in new and fashionable neckwear will greet the visitors to White's store today. The lot are all this season's goods just opened. Being a clearing warehouse line, the firm are able to offer them at Is each, although the usual figure for most of the various kinds i» from 2s lid to 4s 6d each.—Advt. Messrs.'Ambury Bros, have an advertisement in this issue dealing with their exceedingly large stock of winter wearing apparel. In every conceivable line the firm has made its preparations for a good season's business, and the public have been quick to appreciate the enterprise, splendid service, and tip-top value which mark the business of this popular establishment. There are some very fine window displays at their premises just now, notably that dealing with ladies' evening wear, whilst mothers find much ti interest them in the woollen jersey suits for the little chaps. Men's and boys' wear is the care of a separate staff in its own distinct department, and there is a fine stock.—Advt.
THE TERMINUS HOTEL. Mr. Fred. Calgher is established is mine host of the Terminus Hotel. It's a good combination—a well-known and favorite '"people's house" and a wellknown and well-liked people's licensee. Mr. Calgher has had charge of several hotels in Taranaki, notably the Eltham Hotel and the Railway Hotel a.t inglewood, and 1n each and every case he has immediately raised the tone of the hotel and kept it a* a high level. He's a liberal-minded hotelkeeper, but still in the habit of keeping a pretty firm hold of the details of the business and increasing his friends as he goes on. Boarders and those desiring a comfortable place of residence during a visit to the seaside will find that Mrs. Calgher .pays attention to every detail making for the comfort of guests, and as the Terminus Hotel is right alongside the railway station and the beach it is most convenient for arriving and departing guests. The house is being repainted and renovated throughout, and several improvements arc to be carried out. There is no doubt that Mr. Calgher will make the Terminus popular.
