DISTINGUISHED SOLDIER DEAD, By Telegraph—Press Association. Received May 4, 0.25 a.m. London, May 3. Obituary: Major-General Hart-Synnot. Major-General Arthur Fitzroy HartSynnot, C.8., C.M.G., from the time he left Cheltenham College (one of the most famous military preparatory schools in Britain) up to the time of his death, was « typical British soldier of the finest type. He joined the 31st Foot in 1804, served in the Ashanti war, was founded, and was mentioned in despatches for gallantry. He fought in the Zulu war (187!)) 'and the first Boer war (1881), the Egyptian war, and the second /Boer war. In all he had been wounded five times. He was 70 years of age.
