Keast and M. Molloy, Messrs. E. Keast, M. TVilUams, E. Bocock, T.James and M. Molloy. At a subsequent meeting of the committee, Air. E. Keast was re-elected chairman. Several agents of various petroleum companies have visited the district 'Xitcly with a view of obtaining boringj rVhts. We wish the companies concerned every success in their enterprise. •Mr. and 'Mrs, J. Allen, of Tikorangi, and at one time residents of this district have been spending a few days visrthig relatives and old friends in the neighborhood. Blight has affected the turnip crops, ar, in other places, but in many cases the crops have recovered to a cprtain extent.

On Thursday afternoon, at the residence of the bride's parents, Miss Elsie, second daughter of Mr, John Gibson, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Mr. George Gibson. The ceremony was conducted !>y the .llev. Mr. Albert. Mr. Walter Gibson, of Wanganni, in the absen-e of the bride's lather through illness, gave the brine awav. Miss Hilda Gibson, sister of the bride, filled the role of bridesmam, ami Mr. F. Irvine that of best man. The bride was becomingly attired in a costume of pale blue cashmere, with the orthodox veil aijjl orange blossoms, and carried a shower bouquet. The bridesmaid wore a princess roi>e of cream cashmere. After the ceremony the gliosis were entertained at a sumptuous wedding breakfast. The happy couple, who were the recipients of numerous and handsome presents, left on their honeymoon trip for I-lawera, en route to Wanganui, accompanied by the ,good wishes, old boots, rice and confetti of their friends. On their Teturn from inc.: honeymoon Mr. and Mrs. Gibson intend to take up their residence at Hawera.

The Mangorei Rifle Club's dance was held in the hall on Thursday night, when a large crowd of dancers assembled. Tjie floor was in excellent order, the supper was good, and the- music was all that could he desired. Mr. George Majsh's orchestra supplied the music, and Mr. IT. Marsh, assisted by Mr. X. S. James, ablv carried out the duties of M.C. The Mangorei Dairy Co. appears fifth on the list of grade points for the past season, something less than half a point separating them from the top company. This is a decidedly good record, an.l the manager and buttermaker, and, indeed, all employees, are to be congratulated on the success of the company. There are proofs unmistakable that the quality of the milk supplied to the factory must be well up to the standard, for without good material no manufacturer can turn out a first-class article. The opening of the- shooting season will not haye much eli'ect locally. Feathered game, excepting quail, is scarce, while hares, which are plentiful, are not considered by the majority of local sports as worth the trouble of carrying home. However, the 14th is sure to hear a few guns popping and to see solitary sportsmen out in the hope of getting "a bird."
