INGLEWOOD NOTES.
A hockey practice held on Thursday, when over twenty members rolled up. Winter games are now in full swing, and a large crowd might have been seen practising on the football ground on Thursday. The golf links also drew their complement of players, and now that a ladder -ysti'in has been introduced no doubt much keener competition will result. The links are as yet inclined to be rough, and no records have been broken.
At the Parish Hall on Thursday nidit a "social" was held under the auspice* of the various friendly societies of Inglewood. There were about 250 Present, and somewhere in the region of one hundred couples were on the floor, 'which was overcrowded. Dancing was kept up till the early hours of the morning, and all present enjoyed themselves thoroughly. The music, which was of excellent quality throughout, was supplied gratis by the Cottier family and Messrs. Bridle. Broadmore. Mamby, J. Sutherland, and Tavlor. Messrs. E. W. Henderson and F. Spurdle were the M.C.'s. Supper was handed round. The whole affair was attended with phenomenal success, and conclusively proves that when Tnglewood sets about making a success of a thine it uses no half-measures. The energetic committee and other willing helpers «annot be congratulated too heartily on the success of their venture.
