i From Our Resident Correspondent.) Stratford. Last Night. Mr.. A. Meredith, of Strathmore, has been appointed by the Governor to represent the \\ hanganiomona County Council on the Stratford Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. A wool-elating class will he starred at Toko to-morrow. If tae instructor had the time there would be very little dilliculty in getting another class at Strathmore.
The new system adopted by the Postal Department of only giving the total of charges for telephonic communication with other bureaux is not meeting with general approval. Any business man who lias agency work in which telephone charges f>va taken into consideration has now no possibility of knowing what he is to charge up against anv particular account. In many other parts of the Dominion a protest has been entered at this new practice, which, whatever economy it might effect in the Department itself, is certainly proving an inconvenience to the users of the telephone. Judgment was given this morning in the case of Ilovind v. Burgess, a claim for tlO on account of turnips alleged to have been wrongfully grazed uv defendant, the plaintill' being nonsuited.
The Druids held their first social of the season last night. There was a lanre attendance, and a very pleasant evening was spent. At the monthly competition of the Stratford Rifle Club for Messrs. Ilallenstein Bros.' trophy, Rifleman Speck sectired a leg-in with the verv fine score of 05.
