(From Our Own Correspondents.) KORU. Only six people turned up at the householders' meeting on Monday evening, and they were elected a school committee for the ensuing year. They were —Messrs. H. S. Watson (subsequently appointed cliairmaii), G. Carlson, \V. Adlam, E. A. Sullivan, Hansen, and E. ■Looney. Miss Reid, who has been school-teach-ing here for the past five years, is about to leave us. She is going home to Scotland with her people, who belong to the South Island. We are all extremely sorry at her departure, for she has gained the confidence and affection of eyeryone in the locality, from the little mites upwards. Her going will create a void impossible to fill. On Thursday evening the district turned out en bloc to "farewell" her and to show-their regards in a tangible manner. This took the form of a serviceable travelling-bag. Mr. G. Adlam. the local member of the Education Board, made the presentation, .which was suitably acknowledged iby Mr. P. Raill, on behalf of Miss Reid. Dancing was indulged in till the early hours of the morning, and a very happy time was spent. ' WAREA.
