Mr. Sydney Buxton, receiving a deputation of the National Sailors and Firemen's Union, said he desired a lesser number of Chinese on British ships. He promised to increase the severity ot* the language test, and also proposed to publish notice at all ports that Chinese and Lascars are entitled to claim compensation from owners in case of accident.
