The Rarawa brought 75 tons of carsro from Onehunga yesterday morning, including 18 tons of sugar, 4 tons of Hour, 4 tons of cement, and about 150 cases of fruit. SOUTHERN CARGO. j Yesterday close on 1000 tons of general cargo was handled at the wharf from the southern steamers Corinna and Te Anau. The cargo handled, with that of the Rarawa, constitutes probably a record for the wharf. The Corinna landed 550 tons, including 1362 sacks of oats, 1396 sacks of potatoes, 226 sacks, 55 hundreds and 37 fifties of flour, 199 sacks of pollard, 310 sacks of wheat, 120 bags of onions, 373 sacks of chaff, 100 sacks of cocksfoot, and 212 cases of fruit. The Corinna got away for Onehunga about 6 p.m. and returns to-mor-row. The Te Anau arrived about 11.30 a.m. with 412 tons of general produce, including 1768 sacks of oats. 160 sacks, 220s hundreds and 420 fifties of Hour, and 300 sacks of potatoes. After discharging she left for Westport.
THE ROSAMOND. The Rosamond is dne from Onehunsra early this morning. She will have a quantity of cargo, including a large number of telegraph poles. Some 2000 crates 01 cheese will be loaded here for transhipment to the Turakina at Wellington. THE PUTIKI. The Putiki was to have arrived here first thing this morning with 320 tons of coal, the discharging of which will commence at 8 a.m. FACILITIES AT THE PORT. The new coal bunker at the breakwater is nearing completion, and the dredge is now employed in providing berthage space to allow of small colliers to moor alongside and discharge direct into it. Much inconvenience was caused by the old bunker, in that the coal had to be discharged from the steamers into trucks and thence from the trucks to the bins and then shovelled over the | side to the dredge. The new bunker is quite up-to-date. It has a holding capacity of about 200 tons. Discharging from the bunker to the dredge (or whatever boat may require coal) is done by means of a chute, allowing the coal, when the bunker is full, to come out almost automatically. As the Harbor Board will most probably always keep a large stock of coal on hand this should prove a convenience to any coastal steamer, which is driven by adverse weather or other causes out of its course, to replenish her bunkers here. | The erection is most substantial and Mr. Henderson has carried out the work in a very thorough manner.
