Hastings, Last Night. _ Fine but chill}- weather was experienced to-day for the conclusion of the I-lawke's Bay Jockey Club's Cup meeting. The course was in good order, and there was a fair attendance. Fourteen bookmakers were licensed, and the sum of .C7(iO!> 10s passed through the machines for the day, making a total of £14,241 for the meeting, as against £101,.303 for the C'up meeting last year. Results: Oliiti Hurdle Race, one mile and ahalf. —Wimmeria, 10.10. 1; Pikopo, 11.3, 2: Millenial, 0.0, 3. Won anyhow hv two lengths. A good race for second place. Time, 2min 4!) sec. Okaw-a Hack Handicap, seven furlongs. —Amato. 8.5. 1; Royal Marine, 8.4, 2; Idealism, 7.13, 3. Amata came with a great run and won by a. length. Idealism was a good third. Time, lmin 30 1-osec.
Hawkc's Bay Stakes, six anil a-half furlongs. Boanerges, !).4, 1; Broadsword, 8.8, 2; Sea Eagle, 7.4, 3. Won by by a length. Time, lmiii 22 l-ssec. Burke Memorial Stakes, one mile anrl a-quarter. Sir Tristram, 8.2, 1; Sir Antrim, 8.5, 2; Maori King, 8.2, 3. Glissade was responsible for the pace. Olwsely attended by Sir Antrim, she led until the distance post, when Antrim, Maori King, and Sir Tristram joined her in a good finish. Sir Tristram won by two lengths, and there was a length between the second and third. Time, 2min D 1-5 sec. 'Scurry Hack Handicap, five furlongs. —Contendent, 8.11, 1; Ascalon, 9.0, 2; Amaru, 8.4, 3. Won by si length. Amaru was a fair'third. Time, Imin 2 4-ssec. Mangatarata Handicap Hurdle Race, one mile and three-quarters. Forest, 9.0, 1; Continuance, 9.12, 2; Polyanthus, 11.9, 3. Won by half a length. Three lengths between second and third. Time, 3min 18 4-ssec. Juvenile Handicap, five furlongs. —Directoire, 7.7, 1; Ladv Reina, 8.6, 2; Gloss, 7.7, 3. Won by a length. A great race for second between Gloss, Lady Reina, and Humming Bird. Time, Imin 3sec. Farewell Handicap, six furlongs.—Nyland, 8.4, 1; Hermia, 8.0, 2; Dazzling, 7.3, 3. Won by a length; half a length between second and third. Time, Imin 15sec. MANAIA HACK RACES. The annual race meeting of the Manaia Club took place in Mr. J. D. Mitchell's .paddock on Wednesday. The weather was fine and there was a large attendance. Eight bookmakers were licensed at a fee, of £7 10s. Results: —
Flying Handicap, of £25; second horse to receive £5 from the stakes; six furlongs. —S. Pitt's Timothy 1, J. Melville's Royal Youngster 2. Timothy was favorite, and won easily. Ladies' Bracelet Handicap, one mile.— Mrs. C. Brown's Handsome Paul 1, Miss Carroll's The Quiver 2. The Quiver started a hot favorite. Motumate Scurry Handicap, of £25, second horse £5 from stakes; four furlongs. —H. L. Abbott's Appolinaris 1, C. J. Lupton's Pavo 2. Handicap Trot, of £2O; one mile and a-half.—H. Eire-hall's Uniform, 21sec, 1; S. E. Kempthorne's Gather-No-Moss, Osec, 2. The winner was favorite. Manaia Handicap, of £35, second horse £5; one mile.—W. Lovett's Shining Star 1, J. Mclvill's Royal Youngster 2. A god race. The winner was ridden by A. Russell. Maiden Plate, of £ls; six furlongs.— C. Maybin's Scarlet Woman 1, J. Radford's Manawakaka 3. Won easily. Scarlet Woman was favorite. Kaupokomii Handicap, of £2O; four furlongs.—J. Lupton's Pavo 1, H. L. Abbott's Appolinaris 2. The latter was a hot favorite. Burnbank Welter, of £2O; seven furlongs.—W. Wood's Wana I, J. Goodwin's Contralto 2. Wana won easily. Contralto was favorite.
