Mr. V. Bindon, M.A., and late inspector of schools, has been recommended to the position of headmaster of the Manaia school. Jhe status of the school is to be raised to district high school. Mr. W. (l. Kenrick, S.M., who is recuperating in the Xorth Auckland <listriet, is expected to return to Huwera at the end of the month. Mr, A. Greenlieiii, relieving Magistrate, will probably leave tor his home in Xelson on Saturday.—Star. The Aramoho-Waitotara parochial district has been cut in half, Waverlev and \\ aitotara, with their adjacent, localities, forming a new district. The Rev. J. Walker, ot \\ ellington, has been appointe<l vicar of Aramoho, in succession to the Rev. ,1. Humphreys, and the new vicar for Wavcrley is expected to be anpointed immediately. Mr. Alfred Mill has (says the Sydney Daily Telegraph) been retained by the J. C. Williamson management as deputyconductor of the grand opera tour of Xew Zealand. The company will go across the Tasman Sea exactly as it is ai present constituted. The prima donna, Mdlle. Bel Korel, Miss Amy Castles, Sig-jiorina Maria I'ampari and'.Miss Eily Barnata. will tour . The venture is a I'ig one, and music-lovers of Xew Zealand are fortunate in having so rare a treat before them. Mr. T. M. Wiltord's elections as Mayor ot Wellington will cause a vacancy in the oil ice of Chairman of Committees of the House of Representatives (says the Dominion), On several occasions during the campaign Mr. Wilford, when questioned as to how he would find time to cope with the duties he was seeking to add to those he hud already undertaken, stated that if elected Mayor ho would resign the Chairmanship of Committees. This oll'ice will, 710 doubt, now become vacant. Mr. Wilford's successor may possibly be Mr. T. H. Davey, member for Christchurch East, who was •'ir the running" for the post last year, but declined to contest the oll'ice against his colleague, Air. Wilford. The only other likely candidate for the position is Sir William Steward, whose claim for Parliamentary preferment cannot be overlooked. -Iff
