It was decided to leave the question of the confirmation of Colonel Kirkpatrick's appointment to the incoming Ministry. THE AUSTRALIAN REFERENDUM. Received April 28, 11.25 p.m. Melbourne, April 28. The counting in connection with the Federal referendum is not yet complete, hut the following is officially regarded as practically final: — The financial agreement will be defeated by 20,508. State debts will be carried by 127,010. New South Wales votes "No" on noth questions. Victoria rejected the agreement, but accepted the State deibts idea. South Australia rejected the agreement, but accepted the debts. Queensland, Westralia and Tasmania accepted both proposals.
