FOOTBALL.
At a meeting of the management committee of the Eltham District Football Olub the following resolution was carried and a copy is to be forwarded to the Tarannki Rugby Union:—"That this club vigorously |proto>ifcs .against any alteration in the time for starting matches on the Eitham grounds. The club depends on the .public for support and considers the 'gates' would suffer if a late start is made in the afternoon. If the Union were to fix 3.30 it would ■probably mean 3.45 .before play started, and that means short spells, which is decidedly objected to. Again, if the train should be late the position becomes worse. Last season the club nil-owed two teams to come by the 3.20 train ■but in neither case was the result satisfactory, short spells and darkness spoiling the games."
