Mr. Blondin, Conservative member fou- Ghaniplain, in a speech at Coteau Landing, advocated the formation of a French-Canadian party on the pattern of Mr. Redmond's party at Westminster. He supported the naval policy .of Mr. F. 1). Monk, leader of the Quebec Opposition. He believed the suggested party would eventually hold the balance of power. London, April 20. The Times' Toronto correspondent states that groups such as Mr. Blondin suggests make probable an important development in Canadian pontics in the near future. INVESTIGATION OF COMBINES. Received April 27, 5.5 p.m. Ottawa, April 27. The Senate adopted the report of a special committee on Mr. Lemieux's (Postmaster-General) Bill, placing the cable companies under the Railway Com- J mission's control.
The Bill is amended to permit the Commercial Cable Company to retain its privileges in Canada bv special legislation. The Bill will be read a third time to-morrow. The Canadian House of Commons have passed the Investigation of Combines Bill.
