The late Dr. Fiaselii was fifty-seven yea is of age. The death occurred yesterday, savs a IVmerston North press wire, of Mr. R. X. Keeling, aged seventy-two years, lie was an old resident of Palmerston, who for some thirty years was town clerk. He was secretary of the (irst Town Board formed at Palmerston, and retained his position as town clerk tilt about three years ago, when he resigned. He was then appointed treaamer, a7id retained that position and that of registrar of births, deaths und marriages till his death, which was due to heart failure. Mr. Keeling came to Xew Zealand from England some fortytwo years ago, and after residing for a time at Xew Plymouth and Marton lift came to Palmerston in 1872 as schoolmaster at the first school. He resigned that position three years later and took the -position of town clerk. He married Miss If. A, tloby, of Xew Plymouth, who predeceased him. He leaves a family of nine, namely. Messrs. J. W. Keeling. Palmerston, A. W.. H. A. and 11. N. Keeiing. of Wellington. P. X. Keeling, of Masterton. 11.I 1 . .1. Keeling, of Auckland: and his daughters are. Mrs. C. C. Cox. of Masterton. and Misses K. A., Kcling and P. C. 1). Keeling, of Palm-er-ton. He was a Mason and had been through all the chairs of the Order, and hi; master lodge was the old'St. Andrew Kilwinning, of Xew Plymouth, in which he was initiated thirty years ago.
